End of year formals mean a chance to glitter and dazzle, with hair and styles complementing the glamorous looks.

According to Peter Thomsen from the Chelsea Artistic Hair and Beauty Group, upstyles have moved away from barrel curls to softer, fuller buns with loose pieces to create a more natural look.

Longer hair can also be curled into waves, while the shorter styles are more flat and straight with textured cuts giving a stronger look in bob lengths.

Colours range from soft, cool, blonde overtones to cool mahogany into rich browns without too much red.

Diamante or butterfly clips are very popular, used to pull back a lengthened fringe.

Make-up is very soft in hues of lilac or soft pink with hot pink lips and mother-of-pearl to create a shiny look.

Nails are painted to match in lilac and pink.

The look is lots of shimmer - with glitter on the arms, chest and cheeks to create a fairytale image to let every girl feel like Cinderella at the ball.
